The Call

Due to their ties with philosophy, science and technology, which change over time, art and design's relationship with each other in terms of the topics they deal with and the different approaches seen in the narrative need to be researched and discussed from various aspects. While art and design reflect the social, political and cultural traces of the time in which it exists, it also tends to gain new and different qualities in terms of materials, techniques and narrative. This situation expands the "determined" boundaries of art and design, bringing an intersection and interdisciplinary integration between narrative, material and technology.

The unity of science, technology, art and design has necessitated a rapprochement between disciplines and brought hybrid approaches to the agenda. Social media and information technologies bring a new mental construction process to the agenda, and the line between art and design becomes blurred. The distances between art disciplines are narrowing and interdisciplinary studies are gaining importance and emphasis.

For this reason, recent approaches that question the relationship between art and design and emphasize the meaning-making role of art have made it necessary to rethink these two fields and the relationship between them. There is a need for studies on theoretical problems regarding art and design in general, and the relationship between materials and techniques and art in particular, and new approaches on the subject.

In this context, II. The aim of the Art and Design Symposium is to reveal the theoretical and practical interaction and relationship between art and design in an encompassing manner. It is expected that new information and interpretations will be presented and different opinions will be presented by focusing on the ever-growing intersection of academic art and design research on a knowledge and research-based platform. In this way, it is hoped that the gap felt in the literature on the relationship between art and design will be filled, at least to some extent.
